About Me

My Solar Career

My name is Rhett Honeycutt and I have been working in the Solar Industry for over 7 years. It has been my passion helping homeowners take advantage of owning their energy by installing solar. As the owner of Quad Four Solar, I am able to offer the best solution when switching to solar at a cost that is unmatched. My family and I moved into the M3 Ranch community at the beginning of July 2023 and are excited to meet everyone.

As a professional in the solar industry I often get questions about switching to solar before and after my neighbors have made the decision. M3 Ranch will be our home for many years, and I hope that during this time no one in the community is taken advantage of when switching to solar.

I love my family and genuinely care about everyone that I meet. Nothing hurts more as an owner of a solar company than knowing that I have the ability to help everyone interested in solar, but am not able to reach them before they are installed by someone else. I'm here to help you get the most out of solar. You can submit your information below or come me at 1506 M3 Ranch Rd.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Making decisions that are best for you often requires extensive research and time. The solar industry is no exception, as it constantly evolves and presents new discoveries every day. To assist you in your journey, we have compiled answers to the most frequently asked research questions about switching to solar. We hope that this valuable information will guide you in making the right choice.

  • BENEFITS OF SWITCHING TO SOLAR
    1. Helping to Preserve Our Planet
    2. Take Advantage of the Federal Solar Tax Credit - Receive 30% of the System Cost
    3. Empower Yourself by Owning Your Own Power Instead of Renting
    4. Enhance Your Home's Value and Sustainability
    5. Say Goodbye to Wasting Money on the Utility Company for Electricity
    6. Shield Yourself from Future Rate Increases
  • IS SWITCHING TO SOLAR RIGHT FOR YOU?

Here are the key considerations to keep in mind when making the switch to solar power.

    1. Are you a Federal Income Tax payer?
It is vital to grasp the distinction between a "Tax Credit" and a "Rebate". Qualifying for the Federal Solar Tax Credit is essential to receive it, while the Rebate is guaranteed regardless. To put it simply, if you received a refund check last year without any additional deductions, you may not be eligible for the tax credit. On the other hand, if you had some of your withholdings kept or had to pay extra taxes because your withholdings didn't cover everything, then you are likely to qualify for the tax credit. It's important to note that I am not a qualified tax professional, so it's always recommended to seek professional advice for your taxes.
    2. Does your home receive ample sunlight?
The amount of shade and the orientation of your roof play a significant role in determining the savings you can enjoy after installing a solar system. Southern exposure is ideal, followed by eastern and western orientations. Investing in solar panels for the northern part of your home is typically not a wise decision.
    3. How long do you plan to stay in your home after going solar?
It's common sense that if you're planning to move next year, switching to solar may not be the best investment for you. However, the time it takes to break even or achieve a return on investment is often faster than most people anticipate. This question requires more time to answer and will provide additional insights for those who meet the first two requirements.
  • UNITED COOPERATIVE SERVICES

United Cooperative Services is the utility company that services the M3 Community. They offer what is called a Net Metering Rate Schedule that allows for your solar system to have value without paying the extra cost of installing a battery. There are many types of Net Metering utility companies can offer, but I will focus on the 3 most common. These are not the official names, but help with the explanation.

    1. Annual Net Metering
All excess energy produced by the solar system each month rolls over to the next billing cycle at the Retail Rate of Electricity until the end of the year. This means your energy doesn't lose value each month.
    2. Monthly Net Metering
All excess energy produced by the solar system each month rolls over to the next billing cycle at the Avoided Cost or Wholesale Rate of Electricity until the end of the year. This means your energy loses value each month and should limit the size of your system so it doesn't produce more than what you will use for the whole month.
    3. Instantaneous Net Metering
All excess energy produced by the solar system each second is credited towards that months bill at the Avoided Cost or Wholesale Rate of Electricity. Simply put, if you don't use the energy your system is producing as it's producing it, you're losing value.

United Cooperative Services offers MONTHLY NET METERING. When deciding how big of a system you want installed going over 80% of your annual consumption would not be recommended.
